Mundo Aborigen - Life of the native inhabitants
When being a guest on Gran Canary it is always worth seeing the rebuilding of a typical canary village in the park 'Mundo Aborigen' near Maspalomas. This excibition site is not far from the enormous gorge 'Barranco de Fataga'. In this place, when proofs of prehispanic times were found, the idea of showing cultural customs of the Guanche people in a popular scientific way was developed.
Related to the 'Mundo Aborigen' it could be hard to find places with a comparable presentation of the way of life of the canarian natives, as it is very vivid. Beside scenes of the agriculture and trade you also get an impression of how invalids were treated with herbs. Even spiritual attitudes to the cult of the dead are shown. To not lose your orientation within the park you just follow a marked way running along the scenes. These are explained through multilingual information boards.
Moreover, the park owns an archaeological museum with numerous exhibits of times of the Guanche people.
For a visit of this theme park you should plan at least one day as it covers an area of 100 000 m². Due to the entertaining documentation this excursion is an experience for the whole family.
