Country- und Filmpark “Sioux City”
Loud gun shots are the signal for being here - in "Sioux City". Here you feel like a western hero on an area more than 3.000m² large.
The originally designed scenery was built in 1975 - after being used as a film set. In the 1950s the movie industry invested about two million US-Dollars to built this scenery in the South of Gran Canary. It is located close to Playa de Ingles in the mountain ravine of Aguila.
In "Sioux City" all the little details of the architecture catch your eye. But one also finds the typical gun-firing cowboy, "wanted" posters, fighting indians and inhabitants who are brawling while loud country-music is playing in the background. There are buffalos, a mexican shops, a saloon and, of course, an authentic cowboy-shop. Next to the indians reservoir another eye-cathce was erected - the bank of Sioux City. Of course, this is located in the office of the sheriff, next to the prison. The bank itself is a place of an exhibition of old bank notes.
The unique aura of "Sioux City" makes wildwest romantic come alive. Here guests are always welcome. Time is flying when you watch the western-shows, the firy Can-Can-Girls, lassoing cowboys, duelling pistoleros and dancing indians.
Unfortunately there is almost never time to rent a horse to ride through Sioux City or to visit the western restaurant. One thing is for sure: any adult will definetely feel like a western-boy or western-girl in Sioux City.
