Following Captain Nemo´s tracks in a submarine
Who has not dreamed of following Captain Nemo´s tracks and diving under the surface of the ocean? Even a half-hour diving-tour with a submarine on Gran Canary could make this dream come true!
It starts at Puerto de Mogan. Here, the “Yellow Submarine” lies in anchor. This submarine being named after the famous song by The Beatles allows you to get to know the crystal-clear cosmos of the Atlantic Ocean down to a depth of about 20 meters. The 15-meters-long submarine has room for 30 adventurous diving guests. Oxygen bottles, flippers or rubber suites are not necessary. Just take a seat at one of the glass portholes and with a visibility of up to 40 meters you can watch colorful shoals of fishes very closely – and maybe some diver as well.
The tour goes along cliffs as well as two artificial reefs. Those arose from the shipwrecks of the “Caramona Dos” and “Alegranza”. Especially in this place a fascinating, species-rich world of corals, sharks, barracudas, rays, anemones and dolphins opens up.
The trip with the submarine is easy done. Take the shuttle bus from Puerto Rico or Maspalomas to Puerto de Mogan. After the trip you can spend some time taking a bath in the ocean, doing a little sailing tour or go snorkeling. Go for a stroll through Puerto de Mogan. This village has every right being called the “Venice of Gran Canary”, lying at an idyllic marina and with all its white houses, various bridges, beautiful façades and striking pointed arches which are typical for southern Spain.
