This is where every climbing fan will find his / her individual challenge.
Especially rock climbing is becoming more and more popular on Gran Canary. The reason for this is the geological design of the "miniature continent"-island due to volcanic power and erosion. That´s why you can climb bizarre rock formations as well as overhanging rocks, labyrinthine gorges and a volcanic crater.
An example for the diversity of the climbing landscape of Gran Canary is the Roque Nublo. This monolithic spire has dozens of climbing ways with different difficulties.

Due to their inaccessibility some artificial lakes were discovered as climbing paradises.
